REVIEW: Sally Hansen Microwaxable Eyebrow, Face and Lip Wax

Pros:
- No strips needed
- Wax dries hard and picks up hairs when removed
- Soothing lotion actually works
- Affordable

Cons:
- Wax smells horrible
- Microwaveable time is not one minute but just a little over. DO NOT MICROWAVE FOR MORE THAN 2 MINUTES.
- The amount of wax is only sufficient for one-time use for armpits

Cosmetic Ingredients ( Part 2: Preservatives )

Cosmetic products can become easily contaminated by microbes because they contain water, oils, peptides, and carbohydrates which creates a very good medium for growth of microbes.

All these factors contribute to the fact that cosmetic products need very good preservation to prevent microbial growth and spoiling of the cosmetic product and also infection of the skin. Preservatives are active ingredients able to prevent the growth bacteria, fungi, & viruses.

Examples of Preservatives in Cosmetics:

- Benzylalcohol-DHA
- Caprylyl Glycol EHG
- EDTA

- Paraben EU
- Potassium Sorbate
- Phenoxyethanol SA

Surfactants are added to cosmetic products for the following purposes:
- Cleaning
- Foaming
- Emulsifying
- Opacifying
- Conditioning
- Moisturizing
- Preserving

Types of Surfactants:

- Anionic
- Cationic
- Amphoteric
- Non-Ionic

Examples of Surfactants:

- Cetyl or Stearyl alcohol
- Cetrimonium chloride and Stearalkonium Chloride
- Sodium Lauriminodipropionate and Disodium Lauroamphodiacetate.
- Amines, Alkylimidazolines, Alkoxylated Amines, and Quaternized Ammonium Compounds
